Message from Albertson Square Civic Association President, Edward Scott

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Dear Friends and Neighbors, While we enjoy the last few weeks of Summer and begin another school year, we’d like to share some info about our next General Membership Meeting this September 25th. First, I would like to announce Ed Rakowski has joined our Executive Board. Ed is an attorney and retired MetLife Vice President. Ed and his family have lived in Albertson for decades and he looks forward to using his experience to give back to our community by helping the ASCA with its many projects and endeavors.

At our upcoming meeting, we will first hear from representatives of the Albertson Water District. There have been recent concerns raised by some residents about the effectiveness and frequency of water quality monitoring conducted by the District. Representatives of the District would like to address these concerns with our membership.

For your consideration, we also plan to discuss a petition to be put before the Town of North Hempstead to address the increasing high volume of commercial traffic that we are experiencing in Albertson. We’ll also provide updates on past agenda items.

The focus of our meeting will be our guest speaker Daniel G. Mazzola. Dan is a CPA and financial planner affiliated with American Portfolios and an experienced investment advisor and accountant on Long Island. He is a frequent speaker on various financial planning topics before groups in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. At our meeting, Dan will cover one of his areas of expertise, how best to plan for and take advantage of your Social Security Benefits. He will cover some useful strategies designed to optimize available spousal and survivor benefits. He also plans to offer some general tips on “Financial Fitness” which explains how to reduce income taxes, plan for retirement and ensure you maintain some say in your financial affairs. Dan will be available to answer your individual questions.

Hope you were able to join us at our June 19th Celebration Meeting held at Clark Botanic Garden. All in attendance enjoyed good food, company and a chance to mingle with neighbors. The ASCA expresses our appreciation to Joe Palladino of Mr. Jay Appliances in Williston Park for generously donating the HDTV for our Raffle. We also thank Andrew Mesuraca of Basil & Prime and Steven Giangrande of Da-Angelo Pizzeria and Ristorante for donating the delicious Appetizers and Grandma Pizzas served at our Celebration.
